New Projects! 09/15/2010

Hello!  And welcome to my new website/blog!  I've got a lot of projects lined up so I thought I would start by creating a new (and much better) site as my online home.  Here's a little video announcing a few of the new projects I have in the works.

‬For this post I am giving details about 'Song 4 Sub'.  I've made a few changes to this original post (thanks to fellow 'Song Fu'er' Russ Rogers) so please feel free to skim over this again.

Sounds like fun, but I can imagine some hard subjects for songs.

I would sell them on BC before hand. Don't want everyone to just rip your videos.

I really like you idea of "Song for a Sub." But I think you should choose who you write the song about RANDOMLY. Otherwise you will have people who will try to game the system by subscribing (and when they find they aren't the magic number), then unsubscribing and waiting to pounce, like an eBay sniper.

Better is to announce that you will celebrate each subscription milestone with another "Song About a Subscriber," randomly chosen from your entire subscriber base. ("Songs for Subs" sounds too BDSM.) This encourages everyone who is already a subscriber to campaign for you to get MORE subscribers, so they can get another chance to be the randomly chosen song inspiration.

I think you've also set your goals too low. I would do a song at 100, 200, 500, 1000 and then maybe every 500 0r 1000 subs after that. It would take getting mentioned just once by someone like Michael Buckley for your subscribers to jump significantly. I think Lombardo's jumped from less than 200 to near 4000. Parsons' jumped from about 50 to 3500 with just the Buckley Factor Bump.

If Haley G. Hover, Mike Lombardo and Alan Lastufka all mentioned "Songs for Subscribers" in the same week, you would hit 2000 in very little time.

I suggest announcing the first Sub goal, and not announcing the next goal until that song is published. Then set your goal at what you think is attainable from where you are at.

OK, enough kibitzing. It's a great concept. Godz Poodlz did something similar with our facebook fan page. http://facebook.com/godzpoodlz

And your other projects are interesting too. You know I will be paying attention.

You bring up some excellent points, Russ. I'm going to edit the post a bit and change a few things based on your suggestions.
